The Special Information Fund for Bulgarian Theatre Art (SIFBTA) is an
integrated part of the Foundation's Programme for establishing an
Information Fund for Theatre Art (IFTA), main components of which will
be:
- Special Information Fund for Bulgarian Theatrical Art
(SIFBTA); - Special Information Fund for World Theatre Art; -
Special Information Fund for Scenography and Costumes; - International
Information Fund for Theatre Exchange;
The objectives of SIFBTA
are as follows: - to collect, preserve and classify information in the
Bulgarian theatre; - to form a data base and fill in the missing
information on the Bulgarian theatre history; - to furnish a maximum
documentary evidence on the current and future development of the national
theatre; - to organize the information process in conformity with the
modern scientific and technical capacities.
The initial stage of
the building of SIFBTA will include establishment of:
1.
Bulgarian Theatre Video Fund
Objective:
Video-recording of the production of the Bulgarian theatre companies
(public, municipal and private)
Main activities:
- video-recording of current theatre performances - searching and
gathering of video-records of past performances by making copies or
purchase of video-cassettes - classifying and preservation of the
information available - offering of regulated access to the
information gathered - making copies of video-records for distribution
and upon clients request
2. Card-index "Portraits of
Bulgarian Theatre Artists"
Objective:
Setting up of Information Fund disposing with portraits of
Bulgarian actors, directors, playwrights, theatre experts, painters
(scenery and costumes), composers and others (plastics, clownade,
choreography, stage fight, etc.)
Main services:
- gathering of the necessary information for the production of the
dossiers - classification and library archiving of the existing
information - rendering information services to customers The dossiers
will consist of: photos and videos of the person, biography data, artistic
biography, special abilities, hobbies, psychological tests proving his
temper and characteristic features, etc.
3. Card-index
"National Repertoire"
Objective: Setting
up of Information Fund which offers complete information about the
repertoire of: - all state theatres from the day of their
establishment; - all popular municipal and private theatre teams.
The Fund will provide information on the following indexes: -
what (author, works) - where (city, town, stage) - when (theatre
season, date of first-night) - who (theatre team: producer, actors,
stage management and costumes, composer, musical arrangement,
choreography, plastic movements, translation, etc.)
Main
services: - searching and gathering of the necessary
information - classification and library archiving of the existing
information - rendering information services to customers and
consumers
4. Theatre archive
Objective: Setting up of Information Fund which
offers leaflets and posters of theatre performances from the past and the
present of the Bulgarian Theatre.

activities: - searching and gathering of leaflets and posters
of theatre performances - classification and library archiving of the
existing information - rendering information services to consumers
The establishment and development of SIFBTA will have four
positive effects, in particular:
- Pedagogical effect: A
substantial part of the information will be used for education of students
in the State Academy for Theatre and Cinema Arts, New Bulgarian University
and other theatre centers, as well for education of students and
improvement of the educational system in general schools by samples of
drama art from national and international heritage. Scientific and
research effect: providing of a precise, complete, classified and easy for
access and use specialized information will enormously stimulate the
development of the Bulgarian theatre science, it will considerably ease
the activities of the theatre research workers.
-Professional effect: providing of pure documentary information (video
records of life performances, portraits of theatre makers, etc.) will meet
the great necessity for professional and art aspiration of the theatre
makers (producers, actors, stage managers, etc.) throughout the country.
It will inspire the necessity for orientation and acquaintance with the
activities within the branch cultural environment: who, where, what and
how is making.
- National and cultural effect: the above mentioned
positive effects will stimulate the further development of the national
theatre and culture. SIFBTA data base will be used by a wide specter of
consumers, such as: - theatre makers: actors, producers, stage
managers, composers, etc. - playwrights, theatre, science, art
specialists and workers - theatre tutor - students - school
and education centers - other persons, interested in theatre.
SIFBTA will have a unique nature and character. There is no other
institution or organization of similar profile and character in Bulgaria.
The Fund will work in close cooperation with all interested state, public
and private organs, institutions, theatres, schools, etc.
The information SIFBTA will provide is not time and life determined. It will aid the development of the Bulgarian theatre, it will monitor and tape an entire and significant part of the national cultural history, the demand for which will always be significant.
